Voices Making Guppy Food
Frank Kolnacki, United States

I've been experimenting with creating my own guppy foods for about a year
now. These foods seem to help my guppies out better than store bought flake
foods, but are not a substitute to baby brine shrimp, which many already
know, is about the best guppy food that money can buy. To make your own
foods, all you really need is a dehydrator (available from a store like
Wal-Mart) and a food processor.

There are all kinds of things that you can find at your local grocery store
that make great guppy foods, such as:

Chopped clams
Canned salmon
Canned mackeral
Canned tuna packed in water

Just spread these items out on the dehydrator trays and dry for about 4-6
hours. For added nutrition, you can also put liquid baby vitamins on top
before drying. Take the dried product and run it through the food processor
until it's a powdery consistency. Put it in an old empty spice container and
feed as you would your flake foods. You can also dehydrate carrot shavings
and lettuce to add vegetable matter into your foods for more balanced
nutrition.
